Seeking YouTube video. #Random Tip - 7

Hi Friends

You tube player tips. :)

Pressing keys 1 through 9 will seek the video to 10%, 20% and so on up to 90% of the playback duration.

If the video is of 10 minutes, pressing 2 will seek the video to 2 minutes. i.e., 20% of the total playback duration!!

Edit : Pressing 'K' will pause the video, and 'J' will seek the video to 10 seconds before, and 'L' seeks 10 seconds further!!

Have a nice day

Shutdown windows automatically after a specific time. #Random Tip - 4

Hi

We come across situations like these

You're sleepy and a file being downloaded is 85% complete and you will need to turn off/shutdown your system after that.
or
Something needs to be processed and is stopping you going out as you need to shutdown your system.
or
You're copying files that takes almost 3-4 hours.

Now its simple to deal with situations like these.
Its just one line command and is even easy to remember.

STEP 1: Open your run command by pressing "START + R" or as shown in the image below.

STEP 2: Type this

shutdown -s -f -t 3600
and then click ok.
3600 is number of seconds.  i.e. 1 Hour in this case.

3600 is number of seconds i.e. 1hr in this case.
After 3600 seconds your system terminates all programs and automatically shuts down without prompting.

This is very useful if you're going out for more than 4 hours and you want to copy a large file, process a HD video or download something, installing a heavy game which would take, assume 3-4 hours to complete and there's no one it shut it down manually after the work is done. Don't worry about the data being lost, just set few minutes more than the ETA and everything will be cool and fine.

#additionalTips

  1. If you find difficult to find number of seconds in 'n' hours, just type "calc"(with out quotes) in run window which opens a calculator, ex: 7*3600 which is 25200 for 7 hours; so, the command would be shutdown -s -f -t 25200 for 7 hours.
  2. If you want to cancel the scheduled shutdown, type "shutdown -a"(with out quotes) in run window. -a for abort

I hope you find it useful. Have a nice day.
Thank you.

Wondering if the problem is with the remote or just with the exhausted batteries? #Random Tip - 3

Hi friends

Back again with another life time never forgetting usable tip.

We often experience situations like TV,AC remotes not working properly. We wonder if the problem is with the batteries or the remote itself or with the TV/AC receiver.
Here's a way to easily check.

Generally, the light emitted from IR emitter (bulb like thing in all remotes) installed in your TV, AC or any other remotes when a button is not VISIBLE.
http://qph.is.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-e7c0666fa5386e34aad1c8c4f20165ae?convert_to_webp=true
But if you do watch it through any digital camera( even that of mobile phone ), you can actually see the light coming out of it whenever a button is pressed.

So from the next time, you can check if your remote is working properly with your camera(may be a mobile camera ;)).

#additionalTip
If your remote's battery is weak, you will see weak light.(light of less intensity)

Have a nice day.

Got an unusable headphones ? #Random Tip - 2

Hi

We say, a picture is more than 1000 words.

All you need to do is plug in this jack and open your FM Radio app on your smart phone. That's it!

#additional tip.
Don't cut the wire immediately, experiment it by shortening the wire and checking if the phone is able to receive the signal. Usually FM Radio and transmission will have a very strong signal, which needs a small piece of wire to receive the signal.

Have a nice day.

Are you a professional worker with computers?

Hi friends,
These days I rarely find time to give a slot of my schedule for blogging. In the past three months i was able to write only thrice. But the response that I do get from various other bloggers(specially IndiBlogger) keeps my spirit always high to write new and think new.
I am back with another helping post.
Just like as usual, let me start with posing questions. :)
  • Are you a computer science student (like me?)
  • Are you a professional photographer who work on Design software ? (like this cool guy Joshi Daniel , my friend on IndiBlogger)
  • Are you a software engineer? or
  • Do you work more time on computers?
  • Do you often feel your eyes and body stressed?
  • Do you forget to get up now and then to stretch?
  • Do you ever feel like someone reminding you to relax? (some small mobile software that I created recently for windows phone users Take a break! )
I came up with a beautiful but simple solution.

Do you use dual operating systems ?

Hi friends,

Its been almost two months; blah blah the reasons... Now the question is Do you use two or more Operating systems ?

If YES, you might have already suffered restarting and booting to other operating system to access the files on the desktop of the other OS; or The sticky notes of the other OS; or In the worst case, if you have a sync-able applications like Evernote, which maintains a local database; You need to sync on the both sides of different operating systems.

I know its really really painful.

Now say GOOD BYE to these problems.

Let me give you some scenarios through which you could better understand.

New Laptop? ? ?

Hi friends!!! First of all Congrats for your new laptop.
So you got your new laptop (or) a new battery for your old laptop… Now what? Want to make it last longer?
Things you should consider for a better battery life and performance
  1. Do not let a Li-ion battery completely discharge…Doing so strains and weakens it. So don’t do that. How do i know if my battery is Li-ion?? Sol.Most laptops today have a Li-ion battery. If you still have a doubt check your battery label.
  2. Heating issue: Make sure the battery doesn’t get heated up. Heating degrades the battery performance.
  3. Calibrate the battery using your laptop-manufacturer tools. (if HP- use HP support assistant, HP battery check)
  4. Cut down external power consuming devices.
  5. Lower the graphics use. Graphics cards (video cards) use as much or more power today as hard disks. If your laptop has a switchable graphics card, switch on the graphics process on only when you really need it.
  6. Use sleep and hibernate effectively.
  7. Dim your screen - Screen itself consumes a lot of juice.
  8. Shut off unneeded hardware such as wi-fi and bluetooth.
  9. Reduce the CPU load. Follow the instructions for reducing the CPU load @ Laptop? ? ?
Good day :)

Laptop ? ? ? Then you might have this issue. . .

If you are using a laptop for more than 1-2 year(s), you must have noticed that the battery life of your laptop or notebook has been degraded and the battery drains too fast; lasts for an hour or so :’(
What can be the reason ? ? ? What can YOU do to make it better ? ? ?

Is my data SAFE???

Windows 8, the name is very well known. It gives us a new level of integration with the online accounts by allowing users to login with a Microsoft account rather than a local user account. Although users have the option to use a LOCAL account or a MICROSOFT ACCOUNT.

Microsoft Account- a great feature but… Is there something you feel annoying regarding your personal data (online accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Apps and Games) when you are using a Microsoft Account ? ? ?
Yes??? So, what can we do in order to make us feel comfortable and secure. Lets checkout how :)

“Free mind ?” . . .

Hey hi! What do i mean by FREE MIND??? Am i going to say some thing about “how to keep your mind FREE from worries ??” No. Certainly NO.
So… what’s the thing that i am trying to write ?? well I am writing about a software called “FREE MIND” :)
We get involved in many works and at one point or the other, we do have some memory mappings regarding many things… it might be a subject matter or some personal matter or can be a business expansive idea or some sort of stuff like ‘WATZONYOURMIND’ ;)

The Freedom of setting up. . .

" I am a crazy fellow of technology like most of you <3. "
When something new happens in this technological world I get boosted up. The recent one that drew my mind was APPLE’S FUSION DRIVE technology. Well, let me start explaining with this basic thing…

General Storage used in our laptops/desktops are
  1. Hard disk drive(HDD) --- inexpensive but slow in accessing the data
  2. Flash drive --- fast in data access but expensive
And now a new drive called FUSION DRIVE??? So what is fusion drive???

Well, it’s simply a combination of both the drives…

It consists of two parts.
Part 1:  The FLASH drive PART
Part 2: The HARD drive PART

So how does it work???
The more frequently used stuff (including software, Operating System and other important data) is stored in the FLASH drive part and the other data(like movies, photos, music) in the HDD part of the FUSION drive. Sounds interesting…! Let’s take a look at the speeds of data access of flash, hdd and fusion drives….

Speeds of DATA ACCESS IN FUSION DRIVE, HDD and FLASH
The most sensational thing is that mac OS takes care of moving the stuff (like programs, data) to flash/hdd parts of the fusion drive based the frequent usage. So we don’t need to setup anything... Simply, it is COMPLETELY AUTOMATED. Isn’t it too comfortable? Thanks to technology…

Thank you… J
Good day... J
