The right way to peel off a sticky note - #Random Tip - 8

Hi Friends

Although sticky notes are called sticky notes, they don’t always stick that well. They tend to curl up, and fall to the floor after a while

But there is a solution in the way you peel off the sticky note.

But when you do it this way, the sticky note will curl up and disappear from your wall after a little while. With the risk of ending up in the dustbin. There goes your splendid idea or “must not forget” thingy for that important presentation.

The better way is to peel if off from left to right:

When you stick this sticky note to the wall, you’ll notice that it doesn’t curl up, and thus will stick many times longer.

This picture shows the difference:

Happy Sticking !

Eliminate car Blindspots. #Random Tip - 6

Hi

Directly to the content:

Eliminate Car Blind Spots - Contrary to popular convention, adjusting your mirrors to show the rear edge of your car while sitting straight up in the driver's seat creates your blind spot. While the following might take a little getting used to, it vastly reduces and/or eliminates blind spots:

Left/Right Mirror (Driver's side(different in different countries) - tilt your head to the left so it is almost touches the driver's side window. Now, adjust your mirror outward until you can only just see the rear left edge of your car.

Source: http://www.caranddriver.com/features/how-to-adjust-your-mirrors-to-avoid-blind-spots

Right Mirror - position your head almost directly in front (centered) on the rear view mirror. Do the same for your passenger side mirror, angling it out until you can just see the right rear edge. You may have to fine tune slightly, but you should notice that cars approaching (or departing, if you're overtaking and changing lanes, for example)  from either side will now visibly hand-off from wing mirror to rear view with virtually no blind spot.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

Kilos to pounds #Random Tip - V

Hi

This is so simple to do with your brain, you don't need any calculators or converters.

To easily convert from Kilos to Pounds, double it and then add ten percent.

Example,

1) 73kg x 2 = 146

     146 + 14.6 =160.6 Lbs

2) 45kg x 2 = 90

     90 + 9 = 99Lbs

#additionalTip

Pounds to kilos is to halve and then minus ten percent, but it isn't as accurate as the method to convert from Kilos to Pounds. I hope that suffices every day needs.

Have a nice day.

Shutdown windows automatically after a specific time. #Random Tip - 4

Hi

We come across situations like these

You're sleepy and a file being downloaded is 85% complete and you will need to turn off/shutdown your system after that.
or
Something needs to be processed and is stopping you going out as you need to shutdown your system.
or
You're copying files that takes almost 3-4 hours.

Now its simple to deal with situations like these.
Its just one line command and is even easy to remember.

STEP 1: Open your run command by pressing "START + R" or as shown in the image below.

STEP 2: Type this

shutdown -s -f -t 3600
and then click ok.
3600 is number of seconds.  i.e. 1 Hour in this case.

3600 is number of seconds i.e. 1hr in this case.
After 3600 seconds your system terminates all programs and automatically shuts down without prompting.

This is very useful if you're going out for more than 4 hours and you want to copy a large file, process a HD video or download something, installing a heavy game which would take, assume 3-4 hours to complete and there's no one it shut it down manually after the work is done. Don't worry about the data being lost, just set few minutes more than the ETA and everything will be cool and fine.

#additionalTips

  1. If you find difficult to find number of seconds in 'n' hours, just type "calc"(with out quotes) in run window which opens a calculator, ex: 7*3600 which is 25200 for 7 hours; so, the command would be shutdown -s -f -t 25200 for 7 hours.
  2. If you want to cancel the scheduled shutdown, type "shutdown -a"(with out quotes) in run window. -a for abort

I hope you find it useful. Have a nice day.
Thank you.

Wondering if the problem is with the remote or just with the exhausted batteries? #Random Tip - 3

Hi friends

Back again with another life time never forgetting usable tip.

We often experience situations like TV,AC remotes not working properly. We wonder if the problem is with the batteries or the remote itself or with the TV/AC receiver.
Here's a way to easily check.

Generally, the light emitted from IR emitter (bulb like thing in all remotes) installed in your TV, AC or any other remotes when a button is not VISIBLE.
http://qph.is.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-e7c0666fa5386e34aad1c8c4f20165ae?convert_to_webp=true
But if you do watch it through any digital camera( even that of mobile phone ), you can actually see the light coming out of it whenever a button is pressed.

http://qph.is.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-f3230922f11d32f2fa6563e7f451770e?convert_to_webp=true

So from the next time, you can check if your remote is working properly with your camera(may be a mobile camera ;)).

#additionalTip
If your remote's battery is weak, you will see weak light.(light of less intensity)

Have a nice day.

Lesson(s) to be learned from a final year passed out student . . .

Hi

Its been almost four months looking at the face my blog; my very second post in 2014.
Being an engineering final year student, I was all focused on getting a job like many of us. I started brushing up my existing skills.

My first interview with the software giant; my dream company; Microsoft was a failure. The pain and the depression that I felt after loosing it is still unexplainable. I was able to clear 3 rounds and I was rejected in the fourth round.
"I studied hard, worked very hard for this but was a failure."
The only line that was looping in my mind was "I AM FAILED" .
Slowly, as time passed by, the campus placements in my college started. The depression level that I was already in because of loosing Mic., made me loose "TCS - Tata Consultancy Services" too. I was not even able to clear the damn aptitude test and this added fuel to my feeling of being a failure.

Must do things in the last semester of your engineering . . .

Hi friends!

Finally free from my placement stuff as I am in the final year of my engineering course and there were really a very few days left for my graduation like many of you.
The first two years of engineering - people still are serious about the marks and grades.
The third year - exposed to the real life of engineering. Enjoyment, hangouts, friends, bunks, movies, fights, confessions, internships and many more. Different people different experiences. Some are sweet and some are bitter.

What to call this? Pity? Mercy? or Compassion?

Hi,

Life is Life whether its for a human or for an animal or for an insect. ArcsofLife is exactly targeted at this. This morning, i was watching some videos on the YouTube and I came across a beautiful video that completely made me dumbfounded. The importance of LIFE, inspite of any circumstances, inspite of your enemies, inspite of food can never be completely described.
But before u read the rest, do watch this video completely.

Sorry for this wild video for those who are sensitive. There's no high clarity video available.

I thought that I could write a lot but I was unable to describe it in my words. I don't know what to write. To write about killing? or to write about saving? All that happened to me(us) is a silent charm that left a beautiful feeling in my(our) heart(s). A predator like this saving another animal! I would simply entitle it as another "Arc of Life". No words.

Thank You,
Have a great day :)

Yours,
Medha Chaitanya- ArCsOfLiFe.

Lets smile at the things that happen in our daily lives . . .

Hi friends!
Sometimes we think things are playing with us. Some other times we feel things are not just playing they are dumping us… Here are some of the cool and sometimes very frustrating things that happen in our daily lives… So there you go ! ! !
1.      When our favorite song comes on the radio as soon as we get out of the car. :)
2.      When we are waiting for a text and we get one from the wrong person. ;)
3.      When people try talking to us while we have ear phones in. B-/

The illusions ! ! !

Hi friends!!

Here are some cool optical illusions...  Experiment them and you gonna know something interesting...

looking like a QR-code !! :)
Try moving your head
close to, and then away from the screen. The
fuzzy dots appear to move.

Cool.. uh?
Let's move on with the next one. . .

You see it as a spiral ? ? ?

It is not a spiral, they are circles...

Don't believe me? Follow the spiral with your finger then you will know it.

The tilt of the boxes fools our minds to be a spiral.

The gray dots !!!

Can you find out how many grayish dots appear in the adjoining picture ???

This is a visual vibration which means that when you see patterns of black and white, your eye sometimes confuses the two and blends them into patterns of gray that you see here.

One of the most powerful things our lives . . .

You like HER !!!!! Yes I LOVE her. . .

HI friends!
I always used to keep writing the general things that happen in our lives so this post is not an exception. But this post is somewhat different than the other ones. I relate to a boy and a girl who were in a relationship. A relationship which can be “friendship” or some kind of deep affection or what people say “LOVE”. I can hear your echo “Hey you! Stop. Stop this nonsense and start writing the original post!!!” okay okay. Before starting, let me introduce you to what it's all about in a single line.

How fast is your memory ? ? ?

As an engineering student i got used to measure things and in that process i came across a wonderful question “How much RAM does our brain(CPU) have ?” The question might be crazy for a first read. Well, let me explain. Down here are some set of questions you need to think…

The feeling of ‘Missing’ ! ! !

HI friends!
Imagine you were a newly married couple and only you got to leave to some place for a week away from your partner… “How would you feel?”
Simply,  your lover is going out of station and vice versa “how would you feel?”
Imagine- you need to leave your 1 year old kid for a month due to some office work…“How vast that feeling is?”
